There are published reports of Ryanair taking delivery of 40 brand new 737-800s during the first 6 months of 2009. I have not been able to independently verify this yet. However this bears a lot of credibility. Taking delivery of just less than 1 new aircraft every week has the FR delivery crews being very busy. Indeed only having one such crew would put them out of hours pretty quickly.
So Ryanair which has one of the highest utilization of the 738 on the planet is clearly turning them over fast.
The wily FR team is clearly not resting on their hands while the rest of the market suffers down customer numbers and yield erosion.
