Pontins - one of the grand dames of British Holiday Making - founded by Fred Pontin in the 1946. Along with its arch rival Butlins - it epitomized the essence of the "bucket and spade brigade" and the knotted handkerchief satirized by Michael Palin as
Gumby.
Well they have headed to the safety of
Administration (UK Chapter 11) where they hope to keep the brand and the business running as is.
So now the lager louts go to Spain. Pontins and Butlins are but a distant memory for many of us.
Cheers
